FOSTORIA COIN CLUB

The Fostoria Coin Club met at the Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria on Monday March 16, 2009, 7:30 p.m. Pres. Dave Moyer called the meeting to order and welcomed the 27 members. The secretary and treasure reports were read and approved. The members were pleased to have Vernon Olmstead attend the meeting since he has been hospitalized recently. The second reading was given for Larry Lundy, Fostoria, for membership. He was voted in unanimously.

Show Business: Otto Blackburn, show chairman, emphasized the importance of having some members be at the UAW Hall by 6 a.m. March 29th to help with set-up for the show. He said that members from High Street Methodist Church, who are catering the food for the show, will be at the UAW Hall early. The club has purchased all of the raffle prizes for a total of $976. This is the most the club has ever had to spend. (2008 cost was $766) There was a brief discussion about what we should do for prizes in 2010 but then it was decided to see what our profit is this year. Garry Phelps said he would be using 2” blue painters tape to cover the electrical cords since the UAW will not allow duct tape on the floor. A motion was made by Phil Cole and seconded by Tom Weisenburger for the club to reserve March 26, 2010, at the UAW Hall for our show but to also have a back-up plan incase the UAW Hall is not available. Motion passed. Phil Warrington mentioned that we need 85 tables for our show so if we should find a larger facility that would hold more tables we could have more dealers. Otto hasn’t heard from the police department on who will do the security at the show. Dale George has been contacted and will be putting up the outdoor signs March 29th, Judy Burk has finalized publicity, Suzanne Hopkins has volunteers for registration and Chuck Brandeberry also has members contributing to the members table.

Meeting was adjourned by Gary Moran and Garry Phelps. A 1976 proof set was won by James Haas and a 1971 proof set was won by Rich McClellan. Phil Warrington conducted a 21 lot auction. The next meeting will be April 20th.

Respectfully submitted,

Suzanne Hopkins, Secretary
